The majority of the territory of Villacidro, and neighboring Gonnosfanadiga reside in the area of the Linas Mountain range.
The distinctive geological forms of the area, some of the oldest in Europe, have provided enchanting landscapes.
Crystalline shale from Paleozoic times and rose granite exhibit vegetation comprising of dense cushions of thyme, helichrysum and lavender that spread across the highest summits of the territory: Acqua Zinnigas peak,1136 m; S.Miali peak, 1062 m; M. Magusu peak, 1023 m. Fascinating ravines, valleys and canyons are crossed and run through by torrents that form several groups of waterfalls: Piscina Irgas, with the Oridda river as its source; Muru Mannu created by the river having the same name; the Linas waterfall originating from the river Linas; the Sa Spendula waterfalls formed by the Coxinas river as well as other smaller waterfalls.
There are several panoramic viewpoints in the vicinity of the built-up area; behind the town one can find the ancient pine forest of Carmine, from which one can admire part of the Medio
Campidano; from piazza Seddanus, heading into the dense pine forest, one can reach another panoramic spot, Piazzale Giarranas, famous for the impressive granite needles of Is Campanas de Sisinni Conti.
The nearby parks of Villascema and San Sisinnio are great attractions, which host one of the largest millenary olive groves of Sardinia.
From a botanical point of view, the Linas massif is characterized by holm-oak groves teamed with heather formations, splendid examples of arbutus and in smaller amounts, phyllirea, cistus, arboreal euphorbia, mastic trees and wild olives. Along the course of the water one can find willow tree, oleander, gen. alnus, ferns.
Examples of muflone, Sardinian wildboar, foxes, wild cats and golden eagles and with a bit of luck and plenty of patience the latter can be spotted.
