The coastal area in the territory of Arbus is of great importance; it extends 47 kilometers from Capo Pecora to Capo Frasca with low sandy coasts and amazing cliffs.
Some of its beaches: Pistis e Torre dei Corsari, Funtanazza, Scivu e Piscinas.
In the vicinity of the mouth of the Piscinas river, one can find the largest stretch of sand dunes “fossil dunes” in Europe, other sand dune ranges can be found between Pistis and Torre dei Corsari and on the beaches of Scivu and Is Arenas.
In the North there is a cliff coast, culminating with the basaltic surface of Capo Frasca.
The Arcuentu Mountain, 785 m high, dominates the inland landscape, on its peak a primary holm-oak wood stands.
Vegetation in the inland areas is made up of holm-oak accompanied with arbutus and mastic tree, phyllirea and cork oak, providing differing shades of green that become tinged with the blue of the rosemary and the yellow of the wild Spanish broom in spring.
The industrial archeological patrimony of the mining areas of Ingurtosu and Montevecchio are immense, including areas of extraordinary naturalistic interest.
In these landscapes one can find Sardinian dear, numerous wild boar and, proof of the integrity of the natural environment, marine turtles “caretta caretta” that nest along the sandy coasts.
