The Parish church, dedicated to Saint Nicolò di Mira, built during the 600s, fostered the fusion between the two pre-existing mediaeval quarters that surrounded the Sant'Alessando Parish church, later demolished, and the small Santa Maria Church.
The original framework, Latin cross, having just one main aisle, two lateral chapels and a wooden roof has undergone several modifications through out the centuries: two chapels one for each side were added during the mid 600s; in the 700s another two side chapels and the bell tower; still in the 700s the wooden roof was replaced with a barrel vault, fortified by under arches and the wooden alter replaced with a baroque style one in polychrome marble.
The facade is in Gothic-Aragon style enriched by a stone rosette and characterised by elaborate and heavy framework.
Inside there are frescoes from the 800s-900s and some rather prestigious sacred objects.
