The ancient house, situated in the vicinity of the Santa Maria quarter, called “court house”, is a rural construction from the late 800s that, due to the set up of its internal and external spaces, confirms agricultural and pastoral tradition and construction techniques typical of the territory. The court structure testifies the use of the spaces to serve the main functions of farming activities and processes of transformation of agricultural produce.
The large internal courtyard is the focus around which the inhabited areas, work spaces and “le lollas” (arches) revolved, built using material typical to the construction art of the area: granite, basalt, unbaked and baked bricks, cane, wood and classic Sardinian tiles.
At present an important restoration project of the court structure is under way, which is destined to host a centre welcoming tourists and promoting local craft products as well as a museum exhibition especially dedicated to some of the local craft products that connote Guspini and its inhabitants: honey, nougat and cheese.
