Fluminimaggiore: Laveria di Su Zurfuru

Fluminimaggiore: Ruins of Su Zurfuru mine The presence in the area of various types of sulphide, brought about the creation of the place name Su Zurfuru, a denomination later confirmed with the mining concession granted by king Vittorio Emanuele II, in 1888, to an English Company “The Victoria Mining Company” of George Henfrey.

The washery was also built in 1888, it was well-known because it was operated using electric energy produced by a turbine, still visible, and was worked by the water that arrived from the Pubusinu spring to the washery via a canal, 4 Km long. Before hand the materials were sent to the Ligurian washery belonging to the same company, incurring high costs.

When the plant was no longer in action, the water returned to the stream, creating a beautiful waterfall that can be admired from the main road.
