The mountainous quarter of Sant'Angelo came to be with the foundation of the town Fluminimaggiore in early 1700. Situated around 500 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by lush cork oak woods.
Scattered amongst the centuries old trees some houses can be seen, of which the ancient paternal house stands, where one can observe two old cannons originating from the Cala Domestica tower that are a reminder of Barbarian attacks.
Not far away, there is the small church dedicated to the Custodian Angels with a characteristic ribbed bell tower.
