The cave called "Grotta delle Lumache" is located on the East slope of Mount Rosmarino, 220 meters above sea level. It represents a characteristic example of integrated and well preserved concretions.
The rocks that make up the geological compound are of the Paleozoic Cambro-Ordovician series: sandstone, dolomite, dolomitic limestone and shale. The cave was discovered by chance at the end of the 80s when a group of children that were swimming noticed an opening beyond the cliff face.
Inside, numerous environments ensue, rich in splendid concretions and fossils that render the view amazing and moving.
