The small quarter that is located some 40 kilometres from Arbus, close to the sea and in the proximity of the Capo Frasca promontory and Pistis beach; inhabited since the most remote of times, is rich in testaments from the past and archaeological sites dating back to Nuragic and Roman periods. Its inhabitants mainly devote themselves to fishing, especially mussels and clams.
In June, on the occasion of the Holy day dedicated to Sant'Antonio di Santadi, a great religious ceremony increases the sense of communion between Arbus and its quarter: the Simulacrum of the Saint is taken by a cart pulled by oxen, from Arbus to the quarter, accompanied by the traditional traccas (wagons pulled by two oxen and elaborately decorated with material or embroidered cloth), numerous faithful ones that embark on the tiring journey on foot and by a corteo of folklore groups coming from different parts of Sardinia, lead by the Cavalieri (knights) of Arbus.
The Simulacrum’s re-entry, after four days of celebrations, concludes with a big firework display.
