Amongst the Telle yards, immersed in an impressive silent green valley, stands one of the most extraordinary examples of mining architecture: the impressive extraction structure of the Amsicora Pit and the buildings that hold the winch room and offices.
Extraction works initiated in 1878, the construction of the pit was realised in 1915, which was restructured to its present day state in 1938.
17 May, 1991, after the long occupancy of the pit’s tunnels, 150 years of extraction activity finally came to an end. The municipality of Arbus reclaimed the property and has elected it the symbol of the miners’ struggle.
